The Scouts are experienced campers and have worn out the sturdy Coleman tents we’ve been using. They have been raising funds to buy new tents – and will continue over the summer months with a stall and a local community event, car washing and a sponsored walk. Having looked at different types of tents, they spent this week trialing the Vango 300 XD. They considered it’s plus points (easy to put up, sturdy construction, large porch for storing bags and equipment) with it’s downsides (heavier and larger pack size, clip in bathtub ground sheet means the porch isn’t sealed from insects and possibly wind/rain). However on balance they think this will make a good tent for the majority of their weekend camps so is worth the investment.
